Basic Long Range Techniques
How to fight at a distance!
Largo Mano
Long distance fighting is commonly referred to as Largo Mano, it is the range where the most viable targets are the opponent's weapon hand. Targetting the hand can be enough to end a fight, as you'd be disabling your opponent's means of attack. It is considered to be the safest range to fight in, as your vitals are not in as immediate danger, though maintaining that range is a skill on it's own.

The Angles are basically the same, the primary differences being that arms are at full extension when attacking and we are prioritizing diagonal strikes for Angles 8 and 9.

Evasive Attacks as Defense
Blocking in Largo Mano is not as necessary as it would be in Medio or Corto (short range), as your vitals are not in as immediate danger. When an opponent commits to an attack, they create an opening that you may capitalize on. It is therefore most economical to defend by attacking their hand or forearm. To fight in Largo Mano is to maintain distance, and that can be done by utilizing the Closed Triangle footwork. With the Closed Triangle footwork drill, go through the basic angles in order starting with your dominant hand side then practice with your offhand side.
